Last year my friend persuaded me it would be a good idea for my to take up cycling for Variety's Sri Lanka cycling trek. She was terminally ill and felt it would keep her entertained while she was sick. I had never cycled before. I only agreed out of madness and because she was very persuasive. Sadly she died before the trip but with the support of my family and other friends, I did it. It was really hard work but along the way I fell in love with cycling. I raised enough money for 69 bikes for Kiwi kids and seeing the looks on their faces when I went to their schools to present the bikes was the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Now I'm doing a series of challenges to celebrate my impending 50th birthday in June 2020 and I want to raise money for 50 more bikes and I will do this by cycling the equivalent of 50 rides of 50 kms ie 2500 kms over the next 12-18 months. Please help me in this crazy quest. It would mean to lot to me and my friend would have thought it hilarious but more than anything, it's a thoroughly great thing to do for the kids.
